Thank you for your interest in the role of Assistant Director, Finance Transformation in the London Fire Brigade (LFB).  This pack will give you details about the post, but I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the LFB and the background to this new role. 

The LFB is London’s Fire and Rescue Service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world.  We are here to make London a safer city. We employ over 5000 people, across our operational teams (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer your 999 calls) and our non-operational teams (who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, including HR, IT, Finance, Procurement, Communications etc). 

The environment in which we operate is ever-changing, and we recognise the need to change with it to offer the best possible service to our staff and to the communities that we serve. This includes transforming our enabling functions such as finance, so this is a great time to join the Brigade and be part of the change that we are creating.

This is a new role, working alongside the current Assistant Director for Finance, to lead on transforming our finance function.  A key element of the role will be leading the implementation of a new finance and purchasing system, maximising the opportunity this presents to improve the way we deliver the full range of financial services, including planning/budgeting, transactions, reporting, business partnering, and year end accounts.  You will have the skills, experience, vision and drive to develop the finance function so that it meets current and future business requirements.   As a senior leader in the LFB, you will also contribute to wider improvements (including culture change) across the Corporate Services Directorate and LFB as a whole.
