Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Digital and Data Officer (CDDO) in the London Fire Brigade (LFB).  This pack will give you details about the post, but I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the LFB and the background to this new role. 

The LFB is London’s Fire and Rescue Service, and one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world.  We are here to make London a safer city. We employ nearly 6,000 people, across our operational teams (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer your 999 calls) and our non-operational teams (who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, including HR, IT, Finance, Procurement, Communications etc). 

The environment in which we operate is ever-changing, and we recognise the need to change with it to offer the best possible service to our staff and to the communities that we serve. This includes transforming our enabling functions such as technology, so this is a great time to join the Brigade, and to be part of the change that we are creating. 

This is a new role that will bring together two existing teams, and create opportunities for technology and data to harness new developments, including AI and more efficient systems. Collectively, these changes will better enable the technology function to support the organisation to deliver its critical role.   

To succeed, you will have the skills, experience, vision and drive to ensure the new Digital, Data & Technology department meets our current and future business requirements. As a senior leader in the LFB, you will also contribute to wider improvements, including continuing to enable cultural change across the Corporate Services Directorate, and LFB as a whole.
